Minutes MSSEA
10/29/2009
The Annual meeting of
MSSEA was held on 10/29/2008 and called to order by John
Williams, President.
Ann Waller went over
the financial statements in the absence of Jeff Tullos,
Treasurer. The payment of $500 on June 25 was questioned on the
financial statement and vote to approve was suspended until the
explanation of how the amount was recorded could be answered.
The nominating
committee, chaired by Mike Scott, then presented nominations for
the following year as follows:

Bertha Page as secetary
2.
Jeff Tullos as Treasurer
3.
John Williams as president
4.
Bill Poss as vice president
5.
Directors to be Ann Waller, Cathy Riddle, Connie Kidd,
Helen Grissett, William Green,
The motion was made
by chairman and seconded by Ann Waller. The recommendations by
the nominating committee were voted on and past by the members.
Officers were sworn in by Sandra Martin, NAEA.
John Williams,
President stated he will schedule a board meeting by conference
call shortly.
Next year’s seminar
was discussed and it was voted on to have the meeting in the
same location as this year. It is desired the meeting will be a
learning experience. One day with the IRS and state and perhaps
hiring a person to teach a presentation. Ann suggested a local
person to discuss elderly tax issues. Some discussion was held
to invite local states to attend the meeting. The meeting will
be in the last week of October.
The number of
enrolled agents in Mississippi was discussed and it was
determined approximately 45 enrolled agents are located in
Mississippi that are not members of MSSEA. Letters will be sent
to the enrolled agents that are not members to encourage their
membership.
William Green was
appointed as chairman to look at the by laws. He will select
members to assist in the review and any recommended changes will
be voted on at the next annual meeting.
There being no other
matters the meeting was adjourned.
